Nitrile rubber is also called  butadiene acrylonitrile rubber, referred to as NBR, the average molecular weight of about 700 thousand. Gray white to pale yellow block or solid powder, the relative density of 0.95 ~ 1.0. the rubber glass transition temperature is Tg= 52ºC, brittle temperature Tb=-47ºC for 26% of acrylonitrile content of nitrile;  and to test the acrylonitrile content of 40%,the nitrile rubber glass transition temperature is Tg= 22 C. The solubility parameters δ =8.9 ~ 9.9, soluble in ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, benzene, methyl ethyl ketone. Nitrile rubber has excellent oil resistance, only next to its polysulfide rubber and fluorine rubber, and has the wear resistance and air tightness. The disadvantage of nitrile rubber is not resistance to ozone ,aromatic, halogenated hydrocarbon, ketone and ester solvents,not insulated. Heat resistance is better than that of styrene butadiene rubber, neoprene rubber, can work in the long term. at 120ºC;the tightness is next to butyl rubber. 
The properties of NBR is affected by acrylonitrile content,With the increase of acrylonitrile content, the properties (tensile strength,heat resistance, oil resistance, air tightness, hardness) is enhanced  , but elastic and cold resistance is decreased. However, NBR is poor to ozone resistance and electrical insulation, has good water resistance performance.

Use:

Nitrile rubber is mainly used for the production of oil products, such as the oil pipe, tape, rubber diaphragm and large oil sac, commonly used in the production of various types of oil resistant molded products, such as O ring, oil seal, rubber bowl, diaphragm valve, bellows, hose, seal, foam, is also used to make blankets and wear parts
